Electronic Class Drop or Add- eDrop /eAdd
Information for Faculty/Staff

What is eDrop & eAdd?
Electronic Class Drop and Add (eDrop & eAdd) is an online workflow process that allows students to request  changes to their class schedules without having to walk paper forms to various campus offices for approvals and processing.

  • After a student submits an electronic eDrop/eAdd request, academic advisors and others will review and approve (or disapprove, if necessary) those requests using the electronic workflow system. The request must be approved within 14 days.
  • Effective Fall 2009, requests over 14 days old will be cancelled by the Office of the Registrar.
  • Approved drop and/or add requests will then automatically update the student's class schedule before email notifications are sent to their iupui.edu account indicating the completion of the request.

Paper drop/add forms are still available from advisors or school recorders and will still be accepted at the Office of the Registrar (with the required signatures and grade assignments).

When is eDrop and eAdd available?
eDrop and eAdd is available each term beginning the second week of classes through the Automatic Withdrawal (Grade of ) deadline for the semester/session. The eDrop Request page will indicate which classes can be dropped through eDrop on any given day.
For more detail on availability check the Academic Calendar.

Are any schools/programs not using eDrop/eAdd?
All IUPUI schools and programs are participating in eDrop/eAdd EXCEPT:  University College (UCOL) and undergraduate Technology (TECH) students must see their advisor to initiate an eDrop.

How can I manage requests from students waiting to add my courses?
When students submit electronic requests to add your courses (i.e., eAdd requests), a Students waiting to add alert button that helps you manage these requests appears in the Canvas user interface. If there are no pending eAdd requests waiting in your Action List, the button is not visible, which means it is never exposed to students or non-teaching staff.
