Code: Department Consent Required to Enroll in Class, Add Not Processed.
Explanation: The class that you are trying to enroll in requires students to get permission from that department before you enroll.
Solution: In order to get permission to take the class, contact the department associated with the class and ask to be authorized to register for it. For a list of campus departments and phone numbers, visit http://www.iupui.edu/academic/schoolsdepts.htm.

There are several different scenarios that could be occurring.

  1. If you have not attended class at IUPUI in over 12 months, and are an undergraduate student, you should contact the Enrollment Center at 274-4591. If you are a graduate student, contact your school or department (Business,Education etc.) to have your record reactivated. After your record has been reactivated, you will need to continue to step 2.
  2. If you only missed one term or after you have completed step 1, you need to call (317) 274-1519 and ask to be "Term Activated" for the current term.
  3. After you are term activated, allow 20-30 minutes for system changes to take place. Then there will be a link for the term you wish to register for in OneStart.

Waitlist

What is the Waitlist?

» Show / Hide Details

The Waitlist is a way for you to reserve a seat in a class that is full. In the event that someone should drop out of that class, you may take their seat if you have built a proper waitlist request. In other cases the department may increase the enrollment limit and those seats would be given first to students on the waitlist without conflicting conditions.
For example:

If you are 3rd on the waitlist, that means if 3 people drop that class and there are no conflicting conditions with your request, you will get that spot in the class.

Condition 1: The waitlisted class must not conflict with a class already on your schedule.

Condition 2: Some classes require department consent. You need to contact the correct department to obtain authorization for a class that you are waitlisting. Otherwise if a seat opens up, since you have not gotten authorized, that seat will be given to someone else who has taken that step.

Condition 3: You must not exceed the credit hour load for a given term. If you waitlist a class and enrollment in it will bring your total credit hour load above the limit for the given term, the waitlist will be processed ONLY if you use the Drop If Enrolled option. (See "How do I Waitlist a class and drop another class if I am enrolled via the waitlist?" in the FAQ)

Condition 4: If the waitlisted class remains full (no other students drop and the department does not increase the limit), your waitlist will not be processed.

How do I get proof of enrollment for Insurance, Childcare Reimbursement, etc.?

» Show / Hide Details

Enrollment verifications for medical insurance, good student discounts, childcare reimbursement, etc. continue to be processed by the IUPUI Office of the Registrar.

The Office of the Registrar issues an official Indiana University document for verification of academic record information to agencies responsible for loan deferments, insurance companies, or other student benefit program organizations. Academic record information available for verification may include prior and/or current enrollment, enrollment status (full-time, part-time), grades, GPA, and final degree conferral.

IUPUI will certify enrollment at the end of the 100% refund period for a particular term. IUPUI will not certify enrollment for future terms even if a student has already registered for classes and paid for the term prior to the first day of the second week of classes. Visit the academic calendar for specific dates.

It is important for students to keep their anticipated graduation date current. This information is used by lending agencies as part of their deferment processing.

In some cases students may use current enrollment in the IU Independent Study program towards full or half-time enrollment for purposes of certification or loan deferment only. NOTE: The Office of Student Financial Aid Services will not consider enrollment through IU Independent Study towards any financial aid enrollment requirements until after the coursework has been completed. Please contact the Office of Student Financial Aid Services for more information.

It is the student's responsibility to inform the Office of the Registrar that she or he is enrolled in the IU Independent Study program as it will not automatically appear in our campus-based review.

Enrollment & Degree Verifications may be obtained in person at the Office of the Registrar, Campus Center, Suite 250H by bringing photo identification.
