IUPUI is Indiana's premier urban research university. The campus enrolls more than 30,000 students in 21 schools and academic units.
The Waitlist is a way for you to reserve a seat in a class that is full. In the event that someone should drop out of that class, you may take their seat if you have built a proper waitlist request. In other cases the department may increase the enrollment limit and those seats would be given first to students on the waitlist without conflicting conditions.
For example:
If you are 3rd on the waitlist, that means if 3 people drop that class and there are no conflicting conditions with your request, you will get that spot in the class.
Condition 1: The waitlisted class must not conflict with a class already on your schedule.
Condition 2: Some classes require department consent. You need to contact the correct department to obtain authorization for a class that you are waitlisting. Otherwise if a seat opens up, since you have not gotten authorized, that seat will be given to someone else who has taken that step.
Condition 3: You must not exceed the credit hour load for a given term. If you waitlist a class and enrollment in it will bring your total credit hour load above the limit for the given term, the waitlist will be processed ONLY if you use the Drop If Enrolled option. (See "How do I Waitlist a class and drop another class if I am enrolled via the waitlist?" in the FAQ)
Condition 4: If the waitlisted class remains full (no other students drop and the department does not increase the limit), your waitlist will not be processed.
Login to OneStart. (See "How do I login to OneStart" in the FAQ.)
(For a different way to find classes, see "Where can I find the class number for the class that I need to enroll in." in the FAQ.)
If the class is one that can be waitlisted, the Waitlist box will display. The Waitlist box is not needed unless the class you wanted is closed.
(Please follow the steps in the above question "How do I waitlist a class that is closed?" in the FAQ.)
For a waitlisted class, if there is a class you wish to drop if you successfully add this class, click in the Drop if Enroll column (which will display if you select Waitlist) and simply select the class from your schedule. Please go to the Drop if Enrolled section (page 7) of the registration instructions
You should log in to Onestart periodically to check your schedule.
(See"How do I view my class schedule in Onestart?" in the FAQ)
Your enrollment status is listed under the status column of your class schedule. Enrolled means you have been successfully placed in the class. Waiting means you are still on the Waitlist.
Also, as a courtesy, the Office of the Registrar will send an email notification if you are successfully placed into a waitlisted course so check your IUPUI email often.
Login to OneStart. (See "How do I login to OneStart" in the FAQ.)
Note: If you are not officially enrolled by the morning of the 4th day of classes (see the academic calendar), the system will never attempt to place you in the class. You do not need to drop the class if you did not get officially enrolled.
Note: Your enrollment status is listed under the status column of your class schedule. Enrolled means you have been successfully placed in the class. Waiting means you are still on the Waitlist.
Classes are added from waitlist requests for the first 3 days of the major term or summer sessions.
For example: if classes begin on the 24th, the last run of the waitlist will be the evening of the 26th.
After the waitlist is shut off there is no chance of getting into a class via the waitlist system.
Please see the Academic Calendar for important dates, including Waitlist dates Academic Calendar
(See "The waitlist is over, how will I get into my class now?" in the FAQ)
Bring the form to the Campus Center, Suite 250 by the end of the 100% refund period to be processed; you will be manually added to the class. (See "Where can I find all of the important dates regarding registration?" in the FAQ.)
Note: The instructor retains the right to not sign the form, in essence not allowing you to add the class.
Note: You will not be billed for a waitlisted class until you have been officially enrolled.
