RETURNED CHECKS or WEB ACH PAYMENTS

The return by any financial institution of a dishonored check issued to IUPUI for tuition and fees will result in the assessment of a per check service charge against the issuer’s account (or against the account of the student on whose behalf the check was presented). The returned check service charge, as authorized by law, is $20 or 5% of the check amount, whichever is greater, not to exceed $250. In addition, if paymments made via the Web ACH service are subsequently returned a $20 service charge will be assessed against the account. Two or more dishonored payments will jeopardize your credit standing with Indiana University and will result in the requirement that all future University payments be made with guaranteed funds (cashier’s check, money order, or cash).

Checks or Web ACH payments used to relieve a debt which are subsequently returned by the bank will automatically result in check writing privileges being revoked and the equirement that all future University payments be made with guaranteed funds. In addition, IUPUI reserves the right to cancel the student’s enrollment in this situation.
