Office of Student Financial Aid ServicesCavanaugh Hall, room 147 Office
Hours: The Office of Student Financial Aid Services awards Federal and Indiana aid in the form of grants, loans and work-study. To be considered for these programs for the fall 2006, spring 2007 or summer 2007 semester, you need to submit the 2006-2007 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov . Prior to completing the FAFSA, you are encouraged to complete the 2006-2007 FAFSA on the Web Worksheet at www.fafsa.ed.gov that will help you gather the key documents and complete a preliminary worksheet. While the FAFSA on the Web is highly suggested, a paper version of the FAFSA is available upon request in our office. For Indiana residents, the Priority Deadline for receipt of the 2006-2007 FAFSA was March 10, 2006. If you missed this deadline, please apply as soon as possible. Your Student Aid Report (SAR) is available once your FAFSA has been processed. Please review your SAR to ensure all information is correct. If changes need to be made, please follow the instructions on your SAR. Your financial aid eligibility is determined based upon the information submitted on your FAFSA. Your financial aid is also based on your cost of attendance (established by the university), your enrollment status, and your grade level. The process of packaging financial aid and sending a Financial Aid Notification for students entering for the spring 2007 semester is scheduled for early in November of 2006. Its important to note that applying for student aid is free. If you need help in applying, assistance is available online as you complete the FAFSA on the web. You may also obtain information from the U.S. Department of Education at its website for students at www.studentaid.ed.gov or by phone at 1-800-4-FED-AID. Additionally, you can contact us at (317) 274-4162 or at finaid@iupui.edu. For most types of financial aid, you must be enrolled in a program of study leading to an eligible certificate or degree program and be enrolled at least half-time. Half-time enrollment is defined as 6 semester hours for undergraduate students and 4 semester hours for graduate students. You have access to view your financial aid status, awards, and any To Do items via OneStart (https://onestart.iu.edu). Any To Do items are critical for you to review and respond to with information or documentation. Additionally, our primary method of communication with you is via email to your IUPUI account (username@iupui.edu). When requesting information by e-mail, please include your ten digit university identify number. Please check your OneStart account and IUPUI email account on a regular basis. Your financial aid awards are listed as anticipated aid until 10 days prior to the start of the semester. At that time, your eligibility for each award is reviewed and with validation is credited to your IUPUI Bursar account to pay for eligible charges (e.g. tuition and fees) ten days prior to the start of the semester. Financial aid beyond your charges is refunded to you by the Office of the Bursar. |
