IUPUI is Indiana's premier urban research university. The campus enrolls more than 30,000 students in 21 schools and academic units.
With the imminent return of a large number of Indiana National Guard members from service in Iraq, the increasing number of veterans enrolled at IUPUI, and new opportunities provided by federal legislation, this is an excellent time for us to examine how IUPUI is currently serving our students who are veterans and to propose what we would like to provide. Frank Ross, Office of Student Life and Becky Porter, Enrollment Services, have been asked to chair a small working group to develop a report on these issues.
“Veteran” defined: We recognize that the term “Veteran” can and will mean different things to different people. It’s important in discussions about campus services that we make clear that our definition includes those who have served or are currently serving in any branch of the military, including reserve and guard members and their spouses/dependents.
