Enrollment and Degree Verification

  • The Office of the Registrar is the official certifying body for verification of academic record information to agencies responsible for loan deferments, insurance companies, and other agencies that provide student benefits based on enrollment.
  • As of Fall 2007, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) has partnered with the National Student Clearinghouse to provide enrollment verification information for loan deferment. As of June 2008, IUPUI has also partnered with the National Student Clearinghouse for processing of all degree verifications requests.
  • Acting as the University’s agent, the National Student Clearinghouse data is based on official IUPUI student records. Information about what has been shared with external agencies including lenders is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year from the National Student Clearinghouse website.
  • Academic record information, available for verification, may include prior and/or current enrollment, enrollment status (full-time, part-time), grades, GPA, and final degree conferral. Enrollment information is available for certification at the end of the 100% refund period for a particular term.
  • Enrollment cannot be certified for future terms even if a student has already registered for classes and paid for the term. Visit the academic calendar for specific enrollment verification dates.
  • It is important for students to keep their anticipated graduation date current as this information is used by lending agencies as part of deferment processing.
  • Current students who simply want an unofficial copy of their course schedule or transcript may obtain one without charge through OneStart.

ENROLLMENT IN INDEPENDENT STUDY CLASSES

In some cases students may use current enrollment in the IU Independent Study program towards full or half-time enrollment for purposes of certification or loan deferment only. NOTE: The Office of Student Financial Aid Services will not consider enrollment through IU Independent Study towards any financial aid enrollment requirements until after the coursework has been completed. Please contact the Office of Student Financial Aid Services for more information.

It is the student's responsibility to inform the Office of the Registrar that she or he is enrolled in the IU Independent Study program as it will not automatically appear in our campus-based review.

See our Public Information and Student Confidentiality link to see how the campus handles requests for information which are not initiated by the student.
